2021 – CURRENCY OF € 10 MONEY – 400 YEARS OF JEAN DE LA FONTAINE

In 2021, the currency of Paris inaugurated a new series around literary styles and authors who marked the history of literature in France and abroad. Thus, each year, a literary style will be highlighted like poetry, the novel, the philosophical essay or even the theater. A French author and a foreign author, having marked the literary style honored that year, will then be celebrated.

On this side, the engraving workshop of the currency of Paris represented the portrait of Jean de la Fontaine de Face.
The best known animals of its fables are represented: the crow and the fox, the ant, the wolf and the lamb and finally the hare and the turtle, thus surrounding its face.
Its name as well as its dates of birth and disappearance are engraved to the right of the decor. The 400 -year mention refers to the commemoration, in 2021, of the 400 years of his birth.

The reverse of this currency is the reverse common to all the coins € gold and commemorative silver struck by the currency of Paris.
