2016 marks the third year of release of the popular Australian Wedge Tailed Eagle coins. However, the 2016 High Relief Silver Wedge Tailed Eagle has a new design. It was created by John Mercanti, designer of the popular American Silver Eagle reverse, and depicts a wedge-tailed eagle in a perched position. On the opposite side is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The high relief of this coin makes the design even more stunning. The mintage for this version is limited, with only 20,000 of these 2016 High Relief Silver Wedge Tailed Eagle coins being struck. Each is crafted from .999 fine silver and weighs 1 Troy oz. The denomination is found on the obverse, while the weight and purity inscriptions are shown on the reverse.
The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) has been selected to grade this 2016-P High Relief Silver Proof Wedge Tail. This coin has been graded PF69 along with the Ultra Cameo designation. The grade and markings are shown on a label signed by John Mercanti. Now this 2016 Wedge Tailed Eagle is protected by a durable NGC holder.
