  • Description

    «Buran» is the orbital space plane of the Soviet reusable transport space system created within the Energy-Buran program. On November 15, 1988 «Buran» made its first and only space flight in pilotless mode. The fact of the flight of spacecraft in space and its descent to Earth in automatic mode under the control of the onboard computer was included in the Guinness Book of Records. The spaceship was started from Baikonur Spaceport with the support of rocket «Energy».

    Bi-coloured (composite) coin has a round form consisting of a concentric situated ring and disk. The internal disk of the coin is made of tantalum, with the application of technology of changing colour on golden, an external ring from silver.

    Obverse: the composition symbolized the unity of human beings with the world and the connection between the past and present; the face value of the coin “500 TENGE”; trade mark of Kazakhstan Mint; the inscription of «Ag 925 14.6 g. Та 26.8 g. » defining the metal which the coin is made of, its fineness and weight; the two inscriptions “REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN” in Kazakh and English.

    Reverse: the image of the space plane «Buran» in a process of exit to Earth orbit and year of coinage «2014»; inscriptions «BURAN» in Kazakh and English.

    The lateral surface is grooved.
